One year in Ottawa: New York #1, la statue de la liberté

Longue absence mais pleins de beaux articles à venir car je reviens d'un long week-end à New York! J'ai profité du lundi férié du Thanksgiving canadien pour aller visiter la grosse pomme, pour la première fois.

Nous avons eu la chance de profiter encore un peu de l'été indien nord américain avec 26°C les deux premiers jours.

Pour les informations pratiques :

- Je suis partie de nuit d'Ottawa, en bus, le jeudi soir vers 10h45 pour arriver (après multiples changements et passage de douane...non, n'espérez pas dormir) vers 7h/8h à New York.

Compter 90$ l'aller et une petite dizaine d'heures de route.

- Nous avons dormi au International Hostel New York, une auberge de jeunesse située près de Central Park. Super situation, accès au métro en bas de la rue, propre, sympa, bien organisé et sécurisé. Je recommande fortement!

Prix : 55$ la nuit.

L'article d'aujourd'hui sera consacré à la statue de la liberté. L'admirer de l'intérieur est interdit depuis les attentats du 11 septembre. Nous ne sommes donc pas arrêté sur Liberty Island. Nous avons pris le ferry (gratuit, il y en a toutes les demi-heures) qui passe devant l'île et offre une magnifique vue sur Manhattan.

La statue de la Liberté est probablement le symbole le plus connu de New York. On peut en voir une copie à Paris, on l'a vu dans des films...Et finalement, c'est quand même rudement cliché!

Néanmoins, l'apercevoir au loin, trônant sur son île, face à la mer, triomphante, sa flamme étincelante sous le soleil...Je n'ai pas pu contenir mon émotion et c'est un moment d'euphorie à ne pas se refuser!

Hello!I took advantage of the Canadian Thanksgiving to visit the big apple, for the first time. We were lucky enough to take advantage of the American north Indian summer with 26°C the first two days!

For the practicals informations:
- I left during the night Ottawa, by bus, on Thursday evening around10:45pm for arriving (after multiple changes and passage of the border, do not hope to sleep) around 7 / 8 am in New York.
=> Count $90 one way and about ten hours of road.
- We slept in International Hostel New york, this youth hostel was situated near Central Park. Great situation, access to the subway down the street, I recommend it!

The article of today will be dedicated to the statue of Liberty. The inside is forbidden since September 11 attacks. There is not point to stop on Liberty Island. We took the ferry (free, there is one every half hour) which passes in front of the island and offers a magnificent view on Manhattan.

The statue of Liberty is probably the symbol the most known of New York. We can see a copy in Paris, we saw it in movies... And finally, it is really a cliché!
Nevertheless, perceive it far away, throning on her island, in front of the sea, triumphant, its glittering flame under the sun... I wasn't able to contain my emotion and it's a moment of euphoria not to refuse itself!
